Barack Obama VS. George W. Bush – Major Survey Settles The Debate Once And For All

Every four years, America’s top history experts weigh in to rank the best presidents of all time. This is the first year that President Barack Obama was included and Obama received some well-deserved recognition for his historic success as president.

Obama is the #1 best president of the past 28 years and the 12th best overall, according to the C-SPAN Presidential Historians Survey of 2017. Number 12 is an impressive ranking, especially considering modern presidents tend to move up the list as the years go on. Other prominent Democrats near the top of the list include Franklin D. Roosevelt in 3rd and John F. Kennedy at 8th.

George W. Bush came in on the list at 33rd place – that’s just 11 places from the bottom. Historians overwhelmingly agree that Obama was a much better president than Bush.

According to the historians surveyed, Obama’s greatest legacy is in the “Justice for All” category, where Obama was ranked third out of all presidents. The only leaders ahead of Obama in that category were Abraham Lincoln, who lead America through the civil war, and Lyndon B. Johnson, who signed the Civil Rights Act. Obama also earned top-ten marks in the “Moral Authority” and “Economic Management” categories.

“That Obama came in at number 12 his first time out is quite impressive,” said Douglas Brinkley, one of the survey advisers, according to Politico.
