Former First Lady Michelle Obama has been under attack by the Republican establishment and now she is firing back.
Ever since President Donald Trump and the Republicans took control of the federal government earlier this year, they have made a point of trying to dismantle every piece of the Obama legacy. That includes Michelle’s programs aimed at improving children’s health.
Michelle Obama broke her silence and fired back at Republicans this week, delivering a firm rejection of their terrible policy agenda:
Former first lady Michelle Obama is criticizing a Trump administration decision to delay federal rules aimed at making school lunches healthier.
She tells an annual health conference in Washington that more nutritious school lunches are important since millions of kids eat federally subsidized school breakfast and lunch. Without mentioning President Donald Trump, she said parents should stop and “think about why someone is OK with your kids eating crap.”
In one of his first major actions, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said the department will delay an upcoming requirement to reduce the amount of sodium in school meals.
Purdue said he’ll also keep issuing waivers to a regulation requiring that more whole grains be served at schools. As first lady, Mrs. Obama led a nationwide effort to reduce childhood obesity.
The Republicans are absolutely deplorable – they will risk children’s health just to make a political point.
They spent Obama’s 8 years in office trying to obstruct progress and now they’ll spend the next 4 years trying to undo everything the Obama family accomplished.

Republicans politicians delivered a major double whammy this week – they found a way to disrespect former First Lady Michelle Obama and endanger millions of American school children.
President Donald Trump’s secretary of agriculture announced this week that the federal government plans to eliminate changes to the national school lunch program that were spearheaded by Michelle Obama during her husband’s presidency. It is obvious that this is not a policy decision – it’s a deliberate attempt to diminish the legacy of the Obama administration.
Public health advocates are criticizing the Republicans’ latest move, saying it is a major blow to the ongoing campaign to improve children’s health.
“Improving children’s health should be a top priority for the USDA, and serving more nutritious foods in schools is a clear-cut way to accomplish this goal,” the executives of one of the nation’s top medical associations said in a media statement.
