President Donald Trump just appointed a family friend to a top federal position and analysts are saying she is “spectacularly unqualified.”
Trump associate Lynne Patton has been selected to for a key post inside the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, but her biggest accomplishment of her career was planning First Son Eric Trump’s wedding.
Patton has been accused of academic fraud and she has absolutely none of the necessary experience for serving in this her position.
According to a report in the New York Daily News, Donald Trump has appointed the spectacularly unqualified Lynne Patton to run the Region II office of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, which covers New York and New Jersey — thus confirming the Trump administration’s haphazard treatment of the problems facing American cities.
Patton, who has been an event planner and personal aide to members of the Trump family (she planned Eric Trump’s wedding), has no experience in housing or urban development. She will now be tasked with coordinating the flow of billions of federal dollars into New York City, Newark, Trenton and other troubled urban centers.
Her portfolio will include the nation’s largest public housing authority, home to more than half a million people, and the country’s largest Section 8 program, which provides subsidies to tens of thousands of low-income renters.
Americans should be very concerned that Patton was caught lying about her college history – she claimed to have degrees from Quinnipiac University and Yale University, but it turns out that’s fake.
Patton’s tight relationship with the Trump clan dates back to 2009, when she began serving as the family’s “event planner.”
“Responsible for organizing, executing and assisting with upscale events and celebrity golf tournaments,” her LinkedIn profile says. “Handle celebrity talent acquisition for various marketing projects, philanthropic events and golf tournaments.”
… She also claims on her LinkedIn page to have obtained a juris doctorate degree in 2000 from Quinnipiac University School of Law in Connecticut. Next to the J.D. notation is written (N/A) without explanation.
On Thursday school registrar Jim Benson said Patton attended for two semesters but did not graduate.
She also listed Yale University but HUD officials couldn’t explain why that was there. Patton, who begins her Region II job July 5, did not return calls seeking comment.
This is not even the first time this month that a Trump appointee has been busted for making up fraudulent academic history.

Part of the duties for Trump’s newest appointee is to guard against fraud in the financial industry – however the man is now facing a fraud scandal of his own.
Joseph Otting has been selected by the Trump serve as Comptroller of the Currency, a position which requires deep knowledge of economic, business, and monetary policy. However, reports surfaced this week that Otting lied on his academic history, telling authorities he has a degree from the prestigious Dartmouth College, when in fact he has no such degree.
“Joseph Otting is not a Dartmouth graduate,” a Dartmouth spokeswoman reportedly told the media this week. “Dartmouth does not have a school of credit and financial management.”
