Right-wing supporters of President Donald Trump are putting forth an alarming message about the impending nuclear crisis between the United States and North Korea.
One of Trump’s evangelical Christian advisers is now telling the media that Trump has God-given authority to launch a deadly attack against North Korea. The latest comments come from Texas megachurch pastor Robert Jeffress, who has a history of questionable remarks and policy positions.
Tensions between the U.S. and North Korea have hit a boiling point this week, with both Trump and North Korean ruler Kim Jong-un making increasingly hostile comments and threatening military action.
In light of those tensions, Jeffress published a statement saying Trump should destroy the North Korean threat with “whatever means necessary.”
“When it comes to how we should deal with evil doers, the Bible, in the book of Romans, is very clear: God has endowed rulers full power to use whatever means necessary – including war – to stop evil,” Jeffress said. “In the case of North Korea, God has given Trump authority to take out Kim Jong-un.”
Texas megachurch pastor Robert Jeffress, one of President Donald Trump’s evangelical advisers who preached the morning of his inauguration, has released a statement saying the President has the moral authority to take out North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
… The biblical passage Romans 13 gives the government authority to deal with evildoers, Jeffress said. “That gives the government to the authority to do whatever, whether it’s assassination, capital punishment or evil punishment to quell the actions of evildoers like Kim Jong-un,” he said.
This is not the first time Jeffress and Trump have joined together to cause a national outrage.
Earlier this year, Trump was seen in multiple photos meeting with the controversial Christian Pastor. Trump invited Jeffress to the White House, despite the pastor’s well documented history of disparaging remarks to women and LGBT people.
Throughout Trump’s campaign and presidency, he has abandoned civil liberties and common decency. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that Trump has invited such deplorable figures to join him in the White House.
