Americans are raving this week after a critic of the Trump administration made a brilliant suggestion.
Ever since day one, President Donald Trump and his associates have been battling against accusations that they are dishonest. Now a federal ethics lawyer is offering up a simple solution – connect a lie detector to the podium in the White House press office.
That idea comes from Richard Painter, a former Bush administration ethics adviser. The proposal comes as a response to Kellyanne Conway’s recent comments that the White House may use lie detectors to identify leakers within the administration.
Kellyanne wants lie detectors in the White House? Try one on the press secretary podium. The place will light up like a disco!

Also this week, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was put on the spot – journalists asked her directly whether she plans to lie to them during her regular press briefings.
As you can guess, Huckabee Sanders denied that she was going to lie – but hardly anyone believes that, at this point.
“Absolutely not,” she said. “I don’t think it’s appropriate to lie from the podium or any other place. … My job is to communicate the president’s agenda, the president’s message and answer your questions on that as best that I can, as honestly as I can, and be as transparent as I can possibly be at any given moment.”
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Friday the Justice Department might consider using lie detector tests to find out who has been leaking information to media from within the Trump administration.
“They may, they may not,” she told Fox News. “There are many different ways to discover who is leaking.”
Her remark followed Attorney General Jeff Sessions announcing a government-wide crackdown on leakers. Leaks have plagued the administration since Trump took office, often releasing damaging information to the press.
Americans seem to love the idea of hooking up a lie detector to someone in the Trump administration. Here are some of the best responses online (via Twitter):
Lie detectors only work if you have a pulse.
