The Trump administration threw itself into a national outrage this weekend after Vice President Mike Pence made one of the worst mistakes of his entire political career.
Pence showed up at the Indianapolis Colts football game on Sunday, but he suddenly left the event moments after the National Anthem came on. Pence said afterward that he left because he was offended at players protesting during the National Anthem.
There’s just one huge problem with Pence’s story – he knew there would be protests before he even came to the game!
So why the heck would Pence waste thousands of dollars on transportation and security, if he knew ahead of time that he was just going to leave before the game even started?!
Just moments after Pence left the football facility in Indiana, the White House propaganda team jumped on it and started circulating a statement from Pence.
Pence is taking a page straight out of the totalitarian playbook when he calls for all Americans to “rally around the flag.”
See for yourself – here is the statement published by VP Mike Pence shortly after he walked out of the Colts-49ers football game over the weekend:
“I left today’s Colts game because President Trump and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, and our National Anthem. At a time when so many Americans are inspiring our nation with their courage, resolve, and resilience, now more than ever, we should rally around the Flag and everything that unites us. While everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I don’t think it’s too much to ask NFL players to respect the Flag and our National Anthem. I stand with President Trump, I stand with our soldiers, and I will always stand with our Flag and our National Anthem.”
It’s fair to say that Americans are justifiably pissed off at the antics coming out of Pence and President Donald Trump over the past several months.
Time and time again, Trump and everyone associated with the administration have wasted public resources for their petty political stunts.
This is no way to govern! We need new leadership immediately.
