Former Mexican President Vicente Fox didn’t hold back when he was asked about American President Donald Trump on CNN on Friday.
Fox, who served as Mexican president from 2000 to 2006, had harsh words for Trump during a CNN segment about trade negotiations. “He’s a peddler … he doesn’t have any capacity to make deals … He’s a lousy, worse, bad businessman.”

Fox is well known for commenting on American politics, both during his term as Mexican president and since he left office in 2006. Fox had a cordial relationship with his American counterpart at the time, former President George W. Bush. However, in Fox’s 2007 book, Revolution of Hope, he called Bush the “cockiest guy I ever met.”
Mexico has been a prime target for Trump, both on the campaign trail and since Trump’s inauguration in January. One of his major campaign promises was to build a wall at the Mexican border. The Trump administration plans to impose a 20 percent tariff on Mexican imports to pay for the wall. Most economists have said that plan will ultimately end up hurting American consumers and workers.
Fox has frequently criticized Trump, both in media interviews and on his own social media outlets, about the proposed border wall, including this tweet shortly before Trump’s inauguration in January:
TRUMP, when will you understand that I am not paying for that fucken wall. Be clear with US tax payers. They will pay for it.
